Have you ever struggled with sitting down to read the word? I know I have. There are just seasons where it is almost impossible to have 10 minutes to yourself to sit down to read. Mom’s with littles can testify. When they are babies and toddlers, you don’t even have the luxury of a solo potty break. I get it.
Other times I just struggle to focus and read. I will sit down and read an entire page without absorbing anything. Some days are just like this for some reason.
Sometimes we just need to get the word in another way and that’s okay! Listening and watching the bible count! Romans 10:17 says:
“So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”
Getting the word in every day is vital to a Christian’s walk. If you find yourself in a season where you need a little assistance in that department, I have 5 bible study hacks that may help.
1. Bible App
Most likely you already have this app on your phone. This is the YouVersion Bible App. If not, it’s a free app. I think this is the most popular Bible app out there. What I love about it, is that you can read a verse and switch to other translations to get a better understanding. They also have really great plans on there as well.
Did you know that there are some versions on there that read the bible aloud to you? Just in case you didn’t, I wanted to show you how you can find those that do.
When you choose your translation, you will see those with little microphones. Those are the ones that have an audio version. After you choose it, there should be a play button on the bottom of the page. Viola!
2. Podcasts
Another place to find audio versions of the Bible is on a podcast! I found these two on Spotify.
The Bible Recap is a quick little study each day. It’s usually about 5-7 minutes long. It also gives a little background and insight to the passages. This goes through the entire bible!
The Daily Bible is another audio bible. This offers an audio bible in daily bite-size chunks. It usually averages anywhere from 7-17 minutes long.
3. Audio Bible
This one is called The Word Of Promise Audio Bible. It can be found on YouTube. This one is a dramatized version so it sounds like you are listening to an audiobook. It really makes it come alive! This is the New King James Version. I really enjoyed listening to this one.
4. Singing Scripture
It is proven scientifically that “songs will stick”. Who remembers the alphabet song? We all do. No matter if you are forgetting “all the things”, there are songs that you have memorized that will always be there.
I don’t know if it uses another part of your brain or not, but it works! If you learn something in song form, the chances are better that you will remember it.
There are definitely more people out there that sing the scriptures, but this is a Spotify playlist that has a compilation of different ones.
5. The Visual Bible
This one is called the Visual Bible. It can be found on YouTube. I think that you can also buy it as well. I believe that they only did a couple of the gospels. This one is great if you are sitting on the couch to fold laundry, you can watch something too. : ) There are a couple of different ones to choose from.
The first one listed in the picture actually shows you verse by verse as they act it out.
I hope this helps! If you know of any other hacks please feel free to share in the comments! I would love to hear them.
